iPhone Changing the Way Of Publishment

Several publishers have been offering content for cell phone use and the iPhone, which already allows consumers to watch videos, take pictures, listen to music and surf the Web, is an obvious outlet for an industry anxious to boost sales and keep up with the latest technology.

HarperCollins announced that they written excerpts would be available on iPhone. The iPhone is changing the way that people are reading and being able to see excerpts with just a few clicks of the hand.

Browsers can view up to 10 pages of a given book's first two chapters and can quickly shrink or enlarge the print size. The Harper website was adapted for the iPhone by LibreDigital, a division of NewsStand, that has been working with the publisher on digitizing its books and making them available worldwide.
It’s yet to really be shown how this will affect the sales of books while having some of it available on the iPhone. A positive note is that not the entire passage of books will be available which will give people an actually reason to go out and buy books to read.

Apple sold an estimated 270,000 iPhones in the third quarter, according to the company's unaudited report. With the agreement to allow excerpts of passages such as Michael C. White's "Soul Catcher" and Michael Korda's "Ike," the sales could be expected to grow with bookworms subscribing before purchasing the book.
